In the world of recruiting, everything is based on how many stars the player has. Each recruiting site can rank a player differently based on their own evaluation of the player. For example, if a player is a 3-star on 247sports he also can be ranked as a 4-star prospect on On3. 2024 Penn State QB commit Ethan Grunkemeyer is currently a 3-star recruit on both On3 and 247sports, but that all might change very soon.
There are always casual fans that won’t get as excited when Penn State lands a 3-star QB prospect, but Grunkemeyer is proving why the initial ranking when a player commits doesn’t mean they are not one of the best players at that position.
